The Neon Goby is a small, vibrant reef fish that is well known for its brilliant blue stripe and helpful cleaning behavior. In the wild, these tiny fish establish “cleaning stations” where they remove parasites and dead tissue from larger fish. While they may continue this behavior in home aquariums, they should always be provided with a complete diet and not relied upon as the sole means of parasite control.
Neon Gobies are peaceful, reef-safe fish that make an excellent addition to nano and larger reef aquariums. They are hardy, easy to care for, and spend much of their day perched on rocks or coral while watching the activity around the tank. Their small size and calm temperament make them a great choice for community reef tanks.
These gobies readily accept a variety of foods, including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped frozen foods, and high-quality marine pellets. They thrive in established aquariums with plenty of live rock and hiding places.
